Closing lines from his poem ‘Requiem’:
When the last living thinghas died on account of us,
how poetical it would be
if Earth could say,
in a voice floating up
perhaps
from the floor
of the Grand Canyon,
“It is done.”
People did not like it here.

Nice.
His death makes me feel guilty that I’ve never bothered to read anything by him. I did try Slaughterhouse 5 once, but I think I had better books around and so didn’t get very far.
