About
On Web Culture is the blog of Dave Underwood. I am a twenty-something web guy who lives in Auckland, New Zealand on the side of a hill.
I started out surfing the web in the early 1990’s and got hooked. The information available, the insights to share and the people to meet made it a compelling and addictive place. I made my first website using a kind of website builder tool on Netscape.com and later blogged in various places and was a member of a bunch of online forums. It was a great time to be online in the 90’s and I carry that spirit with me today.
After doing a Communications degree and spending a short period behind a camera I decided I’d rather be behind a keyboard and have been working with websites and technology ever since. I love clean, compliant and beautiful websites, code that just works and content that is compelling and confident in it’s own voice.
This blog is on web culture, what people are doing online and how they are shaping this emerging culture. It is what interests me and with a place as big and wonderful as the web, that’s a pretty strong filter. But if you like the web and like what I like, then we should get along just fine.
